Temple Country House and Health Spa combines the warmth and charm of a 250 year old Irish country house, with the care and pampering of a contemporary health spa. Set in one hundred acres of pasture, surrounded by stately beech and ash, on the site of an ancient monastery, Temple is a retreat for the modern age. Declan and Bernadette Fagan opened their home as a country house B&B in 1987. They gained a reputation for easygoing hospitality and superb cooking - as healthy as it is delicious. Bernadette uses local meats, dairy produce, fruit and vegetables, as well as herbs from the garden, to create menus with a special Temple magic. Vegetarian, vegan and special diets are catered for. In the nineties, walking and cycling, yoga and aromatherapy were added to the holiday menu and in 1998 a suite of treatment rooms, sauna and steamroom, conservatory and five new bedrooms were seamlessly blended into the old world courtyard. The Temple Spa was born. Temple is surrounded by an unspoiled rural countryside, with hedge enclosed pastures where cattle graze, and lakes, peat bogs, historic sites, houses and gardens are waiting to be explored. These are six championship golf courses, facilities for sailing, lake fishing and an excellent equestrian centre all within a 30-minute drive.
