OnePlus appears to be getting ready to unveil its new smartphone, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition. The device is expected to be launched in China first, followed by a possible global release under the same or a different name.

Although the device's official launch date in its home country China is tomorrow (May 17, 2022), the device has been leaked a few times on the internet, giving us some hints on what to expect. It recently appeared on the Geekbench testing website as well. However, before the smartphone's official launch in China, the company's CEO, Li Jie Louis, confirmed a few features.

According to Louis' Weibo post, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition smartphone will have an LCD screen rather than an AMOLED screen. While this may disappoint die-hard OnePlus fans, the support for a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz may cheer them up. According to the CEO, the device can automatically adjust the refresh rate based on the content on the screen. This will result in increased battery life.

Regarding the processor, Louis confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max SoC. It's worth noting that this information corresponds to what the Geekbench listing revealed a few days ago. MySmartPrice discovered the octa-core processor with a 4 + 4 configuration and a peak frequency of 2.85GHz. The listing also included the Mali G610 MC6 GPU and 12GB RAM.
