Samsung has quietly refreshed one of its popular mid-range Android tablets from a few years ago. While the original Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is still available in India, it is possible that with this mid-life refresh, Samsung will bring the same specifications to countries other than Europe – where it is currently available. It will also be interesting to see how Samsung handles the spec refresh of a dated tablet, as such rehashes are uncommon in the tech world.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022): Key specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) has two major changes, the most significant of which is its chipset. The older version of the tablet was powered by Samsung's own Exynos 9611 SoC, whereas the new one is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, which is clearly superior in terms of overall performance.

However, Samsung did not take advantage of this opportunity to increase the RAM and internal storage sizes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) – these remain unchanged at 4GB. Internal storage, on the other hand, receives a new variant, with a 128GB variant joining the base 64GB one.

The display remains the same, with 10.4-inch screen size and a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels on the TFT LCD screen. The design is also the same, with uniform bezels, a slim body, and a light weight for its size. In terms of cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, both of which appear to be rather basic for modern standards – even in the tablet market.

The tablet is powered by the same 7,040mAh battery that was previously used. The tablet's only other upgrade is the use of Android 12, the most recent version of Android, out of the box. Samsung is hoping that these two improvements will be enough to breathe new life into the Tab S6 Lite and compete with newly launched Android tablets like Xiaomi's Pad 5 – which was recently unveiled in India.
